In response to the CFPB Bulletin 2012-03 — requiring all supervised banks and nonbanks [which includes mortgage lenders] to verify, in written form, regulatory compliance and risk management protocols of third party service providers [which includes title (closing) agents] — The Koogler Group developed a national 16-hour certification-level course for title (closing) agents which is based on the new Multi-State Study Manual for Closing Agents. Those unable to attend a classroom session may utilize the Study Manual as a self-study program, with access via email to Karen Koogler as the course instructor. Whether attending the 16-hour certification course or completing the self-study program, title (closing) agents must also pass the Secured Protocol Online Examination offered through The Koogler Group and fulfill accompanying certification-level requirements [e.g., proof of criminal/credit background check and letters of recommendation for certification].
