Notice to test-takers: Effective October 15, 2012, VLTA extended the time period for taking the online exam from 30 days to 90 days. Those taking the VCTSA course now have 90 days from date of course completion to take and pass the online exam.
This manual is required for those attending the Virginia Certified Title Settlement Agent [VCTSA] 16-Hour Course sponsored by the Virginia Land Title Association. Course dates, times, and registration are posted at www.VLTA.org [Education; Certification Programs]. The VCTSA designation is awarded by VLTA to those who successfully complete the VCTSA 16-Hour Course and pass the online VCTSA Exam.
The VCTSA Exam is administered by The Koogler Group via our Online Training Portal to those who successfully complete the Virginia Certified Title Settlement Agent [VCTSA] 16-Hour Course. The Exam pulls from a database of approximately 500-600 questions.
NOTE: The purchase price of the Study Manual includes admission to the online VCTSA Exam for one person and is verified by the 14-digit Order Number [for example, W1234567901234] assigned at time of Study Manual purchase. The VCTSA Exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions administered in a 120-minute timed format. Test-takers have two attempts in which to pass the closed-book Exam. A passing score of 80% is required for issuance of the VCTSA designation. Those not achieving a passing score on the Exam within the ninety [90] days following date of Course Completion may re-apply to take the Exam after waiting thirty [30] days. A $125 re-testing fee applies.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The VCTSA Study Manual and corresponding 16-Hour VCTSA Course is for LICENSED TITLE AGENTS who are REGISTERED with the Bureau of Insurance [BOI] as a Title Settlement Agent. If you are not already LICENSED, you must first complete the 16-Hour Pre-Licensing Course [registration at www.VLTA.org] and purchase the Virginia Study Manual for Title Insurance [pre-licensing manual].
